About Me

People tell me the shortest point between two points is a straight line. I did not get that memo. My career path, well, most of my life, looks like a big bowl of spaghetti. It is hard to find the starting point so here goes…

I’m a Southern gal raised in a small Georgia town. On the outside, my life was pretty plain. I grew up in the same home, did well in school and graduated high school. I got my four-year degree in four years. You know how unusual that is, right?

Things started to unravel as a college senior. My oldest brother died of cancer. I graduated, fell in love and started graduate school. We ended our engagement, and I graduated. On a whim, I completed a post-graduate paralegal program. Let’s see, I had a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree and a paralegal certificate, but no job. Then came the floodgate of jobs: retail, paralegal working with aviation disasters (did I mention that I hate to fly?) and then college instructor. I bought a house. I got a dog (a really big dog) and then lost my job. Then came along a series of part-time jobs to keep the house afloat: clean offices and work at a grocery store, work as an editor for a car parts magazine (me, who cannot change her oil), work as a house parent…

Ah, things started to make sense. Hey, Sandra, step out in faith… Go back to school… What God? Everyone will think I’m crazy… Well perhaps, but go! So I did, now I have two graduate degrees. During the last degree, I met my husband. Oh, and not just any husband. I met him on a blind date, and he’s an accountant; two things I swore would never happen. He’s great. Not perfect, but great. God has a sense of humor. He put a trapezoid with a solidly square box. We have three kids: one box, a circle or triangle depending on her mood and the other one I am not so sure about…

I love my family. I love God. I love to be spontaneous. I love purple and blue. I love humor because it has helped me through many dark places. I felt called to share my Whole Story with My Whole Heart with you. So here it is…
